Making Life Better in Our Communities
VOLUNTEER PROGRAM

Purpose for the policy
We want to recognize and reward team members for volunteer involvement in Cornerstone directed community activities and employee-directed community volunteer activities.
Objectives:
â–ª Encourage all Cornerstone Co-op team members to volunteer in the community and action the Cornerstone purpose statement of “Making Life Better in Our Communities”
â–ª Support organizations that our team members value and support through their volunteer efforts.
Community Volunteerism:
Employees can earn an annual individual reward by volunteering hours at Cornerstone Co-op sponsored events in our communities. This reward program supports our Purpose statement of “Making Life Better in Our Communities”. Employees can earn the reward through the following two options:

â–ª Based on volunteer hours logged at Co-op sponsored events where Cornerstone Co-op actively recruits volunteers for a specific event.
â–ª Based on volunteer hours team members log through their volunteer efforts with supported organizations.
Employees who submit volunteer hours will be rewarded $5.00 per volunteer hour. There is a minimum threshold of 10 hours and a maximum of 100 hours. The maximum annual amount an employee can receive is $500.

Employees are permitted to apply to have a portion of their reward donated to an organization they volunteer for. Religious, political or organizations that compromise Cornerstone Co-op’s image are not eligible.

Requests are granted on a first come, first served basis to a maximum budget available each fiscal year and is part of the Cornerstone Co-op Member Relations Budget.
Program Administration:

â–ª Attending a “volunteer event” while being paid as a Cornerstone employee does not count towards volunteer hour totals.
â–ª Annual costs are coded to Cornerstone Co-op Benefit Budget by department.
â–ª Travel time may be included as volunteer time (if event is held on a non-workday) as recorded on the Community Involvement Form. Mileage will not be paid.
â–ª The program is administered by Talent and Culture.
Reward Procedure:
To submit Volunteer hours:
1) Employees complete and return a Community Involvement Form with appropriate signatures to the Talent and Culture Department.
2) Payment is awarded annually on or about fiscal year-end for the volunteer hours for the previous year. This is a taxable benefit.
